The Christchurch City Council has gone to tender for a content management system to support and streamline its internet and internet presence.

The tender, with responses due September 6, forms one part of a wider web information architecture project being undertaken at the Council.

Responses from vendors able to install a suitable web content management system across multiple sites and environments are sought.

At present the Council uses Interwoven and Microsoft technologies for content management and deployment. But, in keeping with e-government guidelines, the Council will consider open source alongside commercial software solutions.

The council supports 40 internet sites, which, according to the tender documents, "have grown organically over a number of years and may not necessarily reflect community, Council and end-user requirements".

It is envisaged that all of the Council's web assets, including 50 internet domains and five intranet domains, will be managed by the content management system.
